★ crawl space - Canadian guitarist and songwriter Jesse Roper brings blues-rock firepower, soulful grooves, and vivid storytelling to The Cedar. Minneapolis’ Mae Simpson opens with a powerful, raspy voice and a band blending funk, soul, rock, and Americana. A strong pairing for listeners who want expressive guitar playing, commanding vocals, and music with plenty of movement. For fans of: Gary Clark Jr. for Roper’s blues-rock guitar; The Teskey Brothers for his soulful roots sound; Alabama Shakes for Simpson’s vocal intensity; Lake Street Dive for her band’s groove-driven blend of styles.
