minneapolis trio malamiko describes their sound as “shoegaze informed midwest emotional hardcore”—a convoluted way of saying “kind of, but not really.” their words reflect the experiences of living through an era oversaturated with cynicism, irony, technology, and apocalypse sermons. word associations often land on heavy, tender, noisy, and dreamy. their debut album all pleasant dreams was released through Tern & Crow in spring 2024.
