Mother Soki is among a generation of new artists forging their paths and creating music that attracts fans seeking a soul connection. That creativity led her to sign with independent label Mom+Pop early in 2025. A bit farther back in her trajectory, Mother Soki wasn’t even clear about how to pursue music. Carving her way through adolescence with a fierce artistic drive, though, the Minneapolis-based musician discovered her passion for making music while attending college in Chicago. Attempting to pursue other forms of art and avoiding what was her true calling, Mother Soki says, “I realized it was far more fulfilling than any art medium I had tried (and I’ve tried a lot), from beginning to end, and even after. Something about the process of music felt so natural to me, even when I did not know how I was doing it, I was just doing it.” Now immersed in her passion for music, Mother Soki gravitates toward the dreamy textures of Dream Pop and the sonic nostalgia of the ’90s. Drawing daily inspiration from her surroundings, she channels her creativity through classic influences: The Sundays, Imogen Heap, and Cocteau Twins. Lana Leone combines heavy distorted guitars and ethereal vocals to create shoegaze soundscapes reminiscent of dark starry nights. Based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Lana Leone started as the bedroom project of singer/guitarist Alana Christen, later adding lead guitarist Josh Frenier, drummer Brandon Tang, and bassist Brandon Burmeister. Lana Leone now plays regularly in the Twin Cities music scene and across the Midwest, favoring DIY venues and basements. Chutes is the Indie Rock project of Minneapolis artist Ryan Kemp. First forming as a solo project during quarantine, Chutes soon assembled a full live band that began playing in the summer of 2022. Since their first show at 7th St Entry, they have found their place in the Twin Cities music scene with their energetic and captivating performances. Chutes blends many genres, mixing Indie Rock energy and intimate lyricism wrapped in a layer of fuzz and saturated nostalgia. Chutes melodies feel timeless, like a song you’ve always known, yet fresh with its forward thinking and DIY spirit.

Serving as a spiritual continuation of the now-defunct Sprain, Shearling exhibits the reunion of a now decade-old collaborative force between guitarists Alexander Kent and Sylvie Simmmons. A subsequent recruiting of percussionist Andrew Chanover, bassist Wesley Nelson, and Keyboardist Elizabeth Carver filled out their orchestrally-minded roster. The band was mostly quiet for its first year of existence, avoiding live performances to instead focus on their brazen debut ‘Motherfucker, I am Both: “Amen” and "Hallelujah"…’ The record retains Sprain’s characteristic commitment to intensity, further mutated through a newfound lens of collagist approach. Simon Joyner is a renowned American singer-songwriter from Omaha, Nebraska. He first came to prominence during the Lo-Fi movement of the early 90's alongside contemporaries mining similar territory like Will Oldham, Barbara Manning, Peter Jefferies, David Berman, and Bill Callahan. Joyner was championed by the late British DJ, John Peel, who famously played Joyner's 1994 LP, The Cowardly Traveller Pays His Toll, in its entirety on one of his BBC programs, an event some journalists called "The Peel Incident." Bright Eyes, Cut Worms, and Lou Turner have covered his songs and Glenn Kotche played drums on his Chicago trilogy (the albums Yesterday, Tomorrow & In Between, The Lousy Dance, and Hotel Lives) before joining Wilco. Following the mercurial path of heroes like Lou Reed, Neil Young, and Bob Dylan, Joyner has continued to release literate and challenging albums at a prolific rate over the course of over three decades without managers, publicists, or major label support. His discography includes 19 proper albums including the new, critically praised, sprawling double album, Tough Love. San Antonio's Girl In A Coma have left a permanent tattoo on the hearts of music lovers with their piercing songs and nuclear performances. The Secrecy - Emerging from Indianapolis’ fertile underground, The Secrecy has quickly established itself as a formidable new voice in American post-punk. Blending shadow-drenched atmosphere, driving rhythmic urgency, and sweeping melodic tension, the band bridges the stark emotionality of classic goth-tinged post-punk with a modern, cinematic edge. Following early singles that earned premieres with Decibel Magazine and Post-Punk.com, The Secrecy now arrives at a defining moment with their debut full-length, Pins and Needles. Where early tracks introduced their brooding textures and soaring arrangements, Pins and Needles expands the band’s sonic and emotional scope into something deeper, sharper, and more immersive. Autumn began as a collaborative effort between bassist Jeff Leyda and guitarist Neil McKay in the summer of 1992; consolidated by the addition of vocalist Julie Plante in February 1994. With soaring vocals against a lush landscape of intricate guitar sounds and propulsive bass and rhythms, they have cultivated a loyal following over their 30+ years. Following some early cassette releases, in 1995 Autumn signed to Tess Records, and embarked on what would become a long working relationship with William Faith, who co-produced the debut album The Hating Tree (Tess Records, 1997). Holding stages with the likes of Clan of Xymox, Faith and the Muse, Switchblade Symphony, Lycia, The Wake, and Sunshine Blind, among others, Autumn followed up with the sophomore album, Return to the Breath (Tess Records, 2000). While members intermittently made space for family and career aspirations, Autumn returned with renewed energy for the release of their third album, Chandelier (Sett Records, 2018), produced again by William Faith. The band has since embarked on several mini-tours of the US supporting Clan of Xymox and The Bellwether Syndicate, and in 2019 were invited to play the prestigious Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig, Germany. More recently, Autumn have once again been working with Faith to produce their upcoming fourth album, Songs About Dying, which includes last year’s popular single ‘Catacombs’, and newest offering, ‘Venice’. Velour Tomb - Inspired by the Deathrock movement of the 80s, Velour Tomb is a queer band formed in 2024 in the Twin Cities, Minnesota. Their music fuses punk-inspired beats paired with lyricism that blends introspection, horror and queer experiences.

Upon arriving in the United States for The Tubs’ first tour of the country, frontman Owen Williams told The New Yorker, “We’re here to unite the country. We’re gonna come, like, three times. By that point, I think this place will start healing.” Then, joyously, they did just that, piling into a van and criss-crossing the States, bringing their literary, bleary-eyed, world-weary, night-of-your-life highwire act to the masses when it was needed most. Along the way, they signed to Merge Records, who will release The Tubs’ third full-length album, Hard Life, on September 11, 2026. The Tubs have never lacked for ambition — on Hard Life, theirs is to complicate the Tub-ullar experience. Having perfected their sound across two albums and hundreds of shows, the London-based Celtic jangle boyband — Williams (vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass), Dan Lucas (guitar), Taylor Stewart (drums), and Max Warren (bass) — push themselves even further into the shimmering heart of virtuosic indie rock. They’re joined by frequent collaborators Lan McArdle (vocals), George Nicholls (guitar), and Rachel Kenedy (keyboards), all of whom have orbited various Tubs and Gob Nation-adjacent efforts dating back to Joanna Gruesome, but the secret to Hard Life’s lushness is the addition of fiddle player Chris Haigh, an instructor and session musician who left an indelible mark on British pop on Steps’ “5, 6, 7, 8.” Mirroring Williams' use of trilling on vocal melodies, Haigh’s fiddle shades the vocalist's rueful croon like a bruise. On “Stoop to Me,” the folkiest, jangliest pop song on the album, Haigh’s licks complement Williams at his most self-deprecating, the lopsided smile of a guy trying not to let on how wounded he is in unrequited love. On album opener and title track “Hard Life,” it’s the sweetness of the ascending fiddle lines in the mix that weds the harshness of Williams’ lyrics to The Tubs’ fist-pumping anthemics. The hard line Williams takes here and elsewhere on Hard Life further troubles one’s idea of a Tubs song. The persona familiar to listeners of Cotton Crown and Dead Meat — to quote Williams, “navel gazing about romantic abjection, London squalor, and the indignities of grief and OCD” — is still present, but so too is a second voice, steelier and more experienced. “The second persona doesn’t have much time for the first,” Williams explains, “often haranguing him for his self-indulgence and immaturity; sometimes fairly, sometimes unfairly.” It’s the scold who takes center stage on lead single “Who’s Gonna Love You Now?” His questions, from the titular one to more concrete concerns like “Who’s gonna pay the rent?” existing in mocking opposition to ideas like moving to the city and really starting to live. Though Williams plays the crank, the song is a raver, guitars ringing out over an organ-brightened horizon. “It’s your life,” Williams sings, the life chugging away beneath him sounding exceptionally keen. He wouldn’t have much sympathy for the lovelorn Williams of “If You Don’t Love Me” — hell, his whole existence seems like a warning that the kinds of romantic entanglements one suffers when they’re young will end in loneliness, failure, and an inbox choked with unread Substacks.On Hard Life, these voices argue, pester one another, merge into each other, and break apart, sometimes over the course of a single song. They’re two sides of the same coin, people who’ve experienced grief, disappointment, regret, and shame, emerging from the wreckage as changed men. “I’m interested in the way sympathy and patience for someone suffering always runs out eventually,” Williams says. “How this can be a good and liberating thing as well as a sad and brutal thing. But mostly they’re just pop songs.” Exquisite, irresistible pop songs. Spin them until the healing starts, then spin them again. Mopar Stars is the hooky, guitar-forward indie rock project from Philly artist Nao Demand (Poison Ruïn), joined by guitarist Bill Magerr (Zorn), bassist and vocalist Nneka Anyaoku (S-21), and drummer Evan Campbell (Sheer Mag). Since first surfacing in 2023 with the Shoot the Moon tape, the band has quietly built a catalog that rides the line of familiar (think Bob Mould, Teenage Fanclub, Big Star) while still landing outside any one clear reference point. The band’s forthcoming album Official Researchers Of The NJ Devil is out July 31, 2026 via beloved Olympia label K Records (Sharp Pins, early Modest Mouse & Built to Spill). Recorded and mixed by Trish Quigley at Studio North and mastered by Amy Dragon, the 11-song LP leans further into the band’s loose, melodic instincts. Across the record, Mopar Stars move effortlessly between power pop, 90s alt rock, and classic guitar songwriting without settling too cleanly into any one of them.

Formed in 2015 by founding member Clinton Jacob as a joke. Mr.Phylzzz (pronounced Flyzzz) is an ever changing monster of noise. Over time Mr.Phylzzz has formed a heavy wall of sound filled with hooky riffs and melodic vocals- creating a chaotic storm that’s well worth the painful wall of cranked amps and exploding drums.
