Nice Strong Arm is a product of the creative and welcoming counterculture of Austin, Texas, in the late 1980s. The band found its sound playing shows with local peer upstarts like Scratch Acid and opening for the underground heavyweights of the time such as Sonic Youth, Mudhoney, My Bloody Valentine, White Zombie, etc. The list is long. The band signed in 1986 to influential label Homestead Records after an improbable one-show tour to open for Volcano Suns and to strut their stuff for Gerard Cosloy. They then went on to record three critically acclaimed LPs and tour the US indie college circuit non-stop. Charting and growing fanbase notwithstanding, the band split in 1990. A re-kindled amity in 2026 finds the trio eager. The old game is afoot: "let's write songs and play some shows!" The band is touring the U.S. later in 2026; the paint-peeling live shows are back! N.S.A. are also recording a new record. Nice Strong Arm is: \- Jason Asnes: electric bass guitar & vocals (Ex-Swans, Alkaline, Saturnine, Crown Heights). Runaway Jane, the second full-length album from the Los Angeles based songwriter Celeste Tauchar feels like a cinematic desert dream from the very start. Ham Shannon is a songwriter who mostly stopped singing the last decade. After years of focus on guitar playing, he is finally ready to share his voice. "My favorite guitarist," Eric LeBlanc, gay icon and lead singer of Ginny & The Fizz. Over the course of over 100 shows as a guitarist for Annex Panda and Ginny & The Fizz, the creation, recording, and release of two EPs and two LPs, and another decade of life, a well earned confidence has emerged. Songs written over the last twenty years in many different contexts have been refined to suit a trio focused on Ham's eclectic indie-kid turned emo-dad aesthetic. Joe Bartel’s core messages are sincerity and fearlessness. He writes about death. He sings about love. He questions and criticizes masculinity (one’s bravery, one’s beard, one’s balls) head-on. A true romantic just barely underneath a gruff surface, Joe Bartel refuses the trite in favor of tirelessness. Joe is an artery connecting the nationwide DIY bloodstream. Lovingly recognized within the Twin Cities community as a gracious host promoter of local shows, Joe has hosted dozens of artists at DIY space Badger's Den, and formerly 319 Club. Joe Bartel has earned comparisons to iconic rock and folk songwriters like Jeff Rosenstock and The Mountain Goats. He draws sonic and lyrical inspiration from The Clash, Jeff Buckley, Blur, and Leonard Cohen. The compositions on American Poison range from heartwrenching ballads and lighter-swaying anthems to hardcore breakdowns and showcase Joe's trademark punchy lyricism. “Everything has changed,” sings frontman Steve Pike on “Apocalypse”, a track from Austin post-hardcore band Porcelain’s sophomore LP, Today’s Minor Victories; “Not for better but for worse.” It’s a sentiment that reflects a familiar millennial experience: comparing the world you dreamed of growing into with the constant indignities of late capitalism, the interminable imperialist violence around the globe, and the rapidly escalating climate crisis as we barrel past the point of no return. And on a micro scale, it reflects a stage of life marked by great tectonic shifts, by youthful innocence fully giving way to grief and disillusionment. On Today’s Minor Victories, apocalypse is both personally and literally the backdrop, and Porcelain’s churning, roiling, snarling post-hardcore is the tool of choice with which to hack through the weeds. The members of Porcelain — Pike, guitarist/vocalist Ryan Fitzgibbon, bassist Jordan Emmert and drummer Eli Deitz — are all Austin scene veterans, having played in locally beloved bands such as Exhalants, Super Thief, Votive and US Weekly. When they came together as Porcelain in 2022, it was with the benefit of more than a decade of orbiting each other and building mutual admiration. With Pike in particular growing tired of the more straightforward, aggressive noise rock that he had been playing for years, the idea was to gather four gifted musicians and play whatever felt right. “\[We threw\] everything on the table, and I feel like all four of our influences really came in,” Pike says. “Especially on this record, I feel like you can hear so many elements of everything that we all really enjoy.”

The group features lead singer Peter Davies, brother and lead guitar player Kent Davies, bassist Grant Hughes and drummer Russel Banks. USPOP is recognized as the starting point for the American Britpop revival in Minneapolis. The band embraces British popular guitar music of the mid-1990’s that re-surfaced as part of American post-pandemic culture, merging North American themes with British pop iconography to form a self-proclaimed “northern” sensibility in the American indie music scene. Angel Alanis is a veteran of the underground dance music scene, having released dozens of EPs and spun at countless international clubs since the mid-'90s. His style has ranged from disco-influenced filter house to hard house to spacy, hypnotic techno, but his tracks are always direct, heavy, and pounding. Based in Chicago, Alanis began DJ'ing during the early '90s at the age of 14, and began releasing EPs in 1996. His early records appeared on small Midwestern labels like and , and quickly built up a buzz for the young producer. Alanis soon became one of the biggest names of Chicago's hard house scene, along with and . He released a few mix CDs around the turn of the century, including Nocturnal and Accelerated Motion, and founded in 2000. A few years into the new millennium, he released several records with fellow Chicago resident Rees Urban under the name , including releases on and . Eventually he moved away from the hard house sound, and his later work incorporated styles such as electro, acid, and deep house. He also became associated with Chicago house originator 's label, and remixed 's groundbreaking "Acid Trax" in 2011. My younger brother Jimmy's band, Speedbilly, is the reason I'm finally allowed back inside government buildings. You might remember me from TV — I was the guy in that relationship with the she-devil with the big fake boobs and a double wide trailer on Love After Lockup. Yeah, that one. She just got out again. But we're not here to talk about her. We're here to talk about Born to Send It, or as I call it, the soundtrack to my life — the kind of EP you pop into the tape deck of your third-gen Camaro before stalking your ex in a Walmart parking lot. (Just kidding. Please don't tell my parole officer.) Anyway, crack a warm beer and crank up some Speedbilly for a little motivation the next time you head off into the woods hunting for burl or cryptids. The Modern Era Record Release show The Modern Era is an American Rock band from Minneapolis, Mn. composed of lead vocalist Jack Swagger, guitarists Josh Ripley, Jake Hall and Ben Pelowski, bassist Nick Pelowski and drummer Chris Fister formed in 2013. In 2015, the group's song "A Million Things" was featured in the A24 film "Barely Lethal". In 2014 the band began touring with acts like Meat Puppets and Richie Ramone across the US. in support of their debut album "Too Loud, Too Bad!" The group's second release "Repeat Offender" was released in 2016. In 2022, the single "Under The Gun" was featured in the Amazon Prime film "Drafted 2035", in which Swagger was also the lead actor. The band currently has finished their second album, which features veteran producer Jack Endino (Nirvana/Soundgarden). The first single "Dear Anyone" was released Nov. 28th, 2025, with a self titled album slated for a January 8th, 2026 release.
